How to Care for Your Nails After a Gel Manicure

A good gel manicure can still be damaged by what happens after the appointment. The goal of aftercare is simple: protect the edges, avoid unnecessary stress and do not turn a small chip into a peeled layer.

Do not pick at lifting gel

Once an edge lifts, peeling it can pull on the surface of the natural nail. If a repair is needed, arrange one instead of using the lifted area as a tab.

The same rule applies to gel removal: controlled removal is better than pulling product off.

Protect your hands during rough tasks

Cleaning chemicals, repeated soaking and using nails as tools can shorten wear time. Gloves are useful for long cleaning tasks and dishwashing.

Keep the nail length realistic for your daily routine.

Moisturize the skin around the nails

Cuticle oil or hand cream can help the surrounding skin stay comfortable, especially when you use sanitizer often.

This is basic skin care, not a substitute for medical treatment if there is pain, swelling or infection.

Plan the next service before the set is failing

If you prefer consistent nails, schedule maintenance while the service still looks controlled rather than waiting for several nails to lift or break.
